This voyage along America's Intracoastal Waterway offers a unique portrait of American history, architecture, and culture from colonial times to the present. From the grand architecture in downtown Beaufort to the impressive mansions of Palm Beach, the preservation of these areas has allowed us to better understand our nation's past. Beginning in Charleston, relive the start of the Civil War at Fort Sumter and enjoy the antebellum charm, graced by Palmetto trees and wrought-iron balustrades. Tour Savannah, Georgia's oldest city, saved by Lincoln from Sherman's predations; learn about the Gullah people and how they've preserved their culture through generations on the island of Sapelo; and visit Jekyll Island, whose lavish homes were once used as a wintertime retreat by a group of wealthy northerners.
* This voyage operates in the reverse, from Palm Beach to Charleston.
